Whether you’ve relocated to a new company, want to move closer to your kids who are attending university, upsizing or downsizing, the Region of Waterloo has many communities to suit many lifestyles.

Uptown Waterloo is a bustling city centre that boasts a beautiful town square, shops and eateries. This district is a fantastic spot for young professionals who savour the trendy dining outlets here, including The Bauer Kitchen and Beertown. Uptown Waterloo has new home builds mixed in with older homes, some built more than 50 years ago. It offers great real estate potential with access to major transit for commuting.

Lakeshore community is a mature neighbourhood with five schools, perfect for young families. While it’s located in the heart of the city, it’s still close enough to major highways and transit – it’s a commuter’s paradise! Along with parks and trails, shopping malls, large retailers, and lots of dining options, you’ll never be too far from finding something to do or somewhere to go.

Kiwanis Park is one of the most prestigious locales in the region. It’s an intimate enclave of a small number of streets that line the Grand River at the far edge of the city. Here you’ll find multi-million dollar estates on sprawling lots. The streets are lined with classic street lights and both Kiwanis Public Park and Beach Pool are very close by. Beautiful trails and parkland on the fringes of the Grand River Valley make this one of the special destinations for home shopping.

Waterloo’s Laurelwood community has a housing population of nearly 2,000; mostly single storeys and townhomes. There are elementary schools and Laurel Creek Conservation Area, making this a fantastic spot for young families. Managed by the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), Laurel Creek has plenty of outdoor activities and events to keep the family entertained. The neighbourhood is also home to many playgrounds and sports fields and weekend shopping opportunities at the neighbouring St. Jacobs Market.

As an added convenience for the entire region, Waterloo is welcoming in the new Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system from Kitchener down to Cambridge. The LRT will provide improved transportation and help ease traffic. Regardless of your lifestyle, the Region of Waterloo is loaded with great communities to live in.
